A man and woman smiling.

When you invest in your oral health, you invest in yourself. But that doesn’t mean you still shouldn’t try to get the most from your money. If you’d like to improve your smile with the help of cosmetic dentistry but aren’t sure if the results will last long enough to be worth the cost, here are a few popular treatments and how long you can expect to enjoy their results!

Veneers

Veneers are thin porcelain shells that fit over your teeth to make them appear whiter. They can even make minor changes to their shape and size. Veneers require no special maintenance; however, you should only brush them with a soft-bristled brush and non-abrasive toothpaste. With proper care, you can expect them to last up to 15 years.

Teeth Whitening

Teeth whitening can lift several layers of discoloration from the teeth in just one treatment, however the results are not permanent. How long they last largely depends on your diet and how well you care for your teeth. If you consume a lot of dark-colored foods or beverages, smoke, or don’t brush and floss your teeth regularly, new stains can easily develop. Otherwise, with proper oral hygiene, you can expect your results to last between six months and three years.

Composite Bonding

Bonding uses a composite resin to rebuild chipped or broken teeth. The material used is the same as used for filling cavities and is very durable, but it will still need to be replaced in around eight to 15 years.

Crowns

Crowns are deluxe fillings that fit over your entire tooth to repair large areas of damage. Crowns require no special maintenance and can be expected to last up to 15 years with excellent oral hygiene practices.

Orthodontics

The results of orthodontic treatments with braces or aligners can last a lifetime with proper care. You may need to wear a retainer while you sleep, but as long as you do so your teeth should stay in their new position and not shift back.

Dental Implants

Dental implants are more than just cosmetic, they’re functional and can even improve your oral health. Thankfully, they are also durable and can last a lifetime with proper maintenance. Just brush and floss them like you would your natural teeth and visit your dentist regularly, and you’ll enjoy a beautiful smile for years to come.

Remember, when you invest in your smile, you’re investing in more than just teeth. You are investing in your self-esteem and your oral health, and that’s something money simply can’t buy!
